Kofinas Fertility Group Featured on New York Post

    30 October, 2019

Kofinas Fertility Group was recently featured in two New York Post articles as a top fertility clinic in New York. Find out more about our innovative technology and how we aim to end the stigma around infertility below.

It’s time to start talking about fertility

At Kofinas Fertility Group, it is important for us to bring the conversation about infertility to a place that is open and honest. In this recent article in the New York Post, our award-winning doctors discuss the importance of individuals speaking out about their fertility journeys in the media. Recently in all forms of media, celebrities like Gabrielle Union and Anne Hathaway have been more open about their own experiences when it comes to fertility. Stories like these allow the stigma that surrounds infertility to be less taboo and help people open up about their own fertility struggles. The lack of conversation is getting better amongst women, but there is room for improvement when it comes to men and their part in the fertility journey. One in eight couples suffer from infertility and we believe that having these conversations can lead to a better support system during your fertility journey, which can have a positive effect on your outcome. With the passage of FAFTA, access to fertility treatment coverage in New York is changing for the better in January 2020; this is the perfect time to keep the fertility conversation going and actively take steps toward the family you’ve always dreamed of.

A natural pregnancy is in the works for cancer patients

A cancer diagnosis does not have to include a diagnosis of infertility. In this article, Kofinas Fertility Group’s Founder, Dr. George Kofinas, explains the importance of preserving someone’s fertility prior to any cancer treatments that include chemotherapy or radiation. Depending on the Oncologist’s treatment plan, sometimes the window is too short (less than 2 weeks) to preserve a woman’s fertility by freezing her eggs prior to receiving treatment. Dr. George Kofinas has developed a technology and a facility in New York City that can safely perform this procedure and cut that short window in half with ovarian tissue freezing.

At the time of this article, Dr. Kofinas had not yet received approval to build his reproductive surgery center in order to provide this treatment. Dr. Kofinas has built Manhattan Reproductive Surgery Center since then and operates as the first stand-alone reproductive surgery center in New York State as of April 2019.
