    Can You Really Use Yoga to Get Pregnant?

    It’s no secret that yoga can do wonders for your physical well-being.

    Yoga’s many benefits include reducing blood pressure, anxiety, depression, and even pain. It’s also the sixth most commonly used complementary health practice among adults in the U.S.

    But what about using yoga to get pregnant?

    There’s no shortage of infertility solutions available. But many couples are using yoga to fix their issues and increase their chances of getting pregnant. It’s a natural tool that can alleviate stress, increase blood flow and stimulate hormones.

    Here’s a look at how yoga can affect fertility and some poses you can try at home.

    Using Yoga to Get Pregnant

    Excessive stress can be harmful to anyone, but it’s especially harmful to women trying to get pregnant.

    Stress releases a hormone called alpha-amylase. Studies have shown that women with higher alpha-amylase levels are about 12% less likely to get pregnant.

    Yoga, in addition to being a good source of exercise, is a known way to de-stress. Yoga combines meditation techniques with physical techniques that help bodies relax. It also promotes healthy blood flow to the groin, and decreases muscle tension.

    The lack of stress, increased flexibility, and improved blood flow can boost a woman’s chances of getting pregnant.

    Find classes that focus on stimulation, restoration, and flexibility above all else. More strenuous yoga poses should be avoided.

    Fertility and Yoga

    Stimulating Moves

    Stimulating moves are some of the best poses you can do to improve fertility. These poses stimulate body circulation and aid reproductive organs. They can be beneficial to your uterus and ovaries if done consistently.

    One of the most effective poses for stimulation is Cobra. Lie on the floor with your legs stretched back, palms face down under your shoulders, and the tops of your feet face down. Your thighs and pelvic region should also be on the floor.

    Inhale and straighten your arms out. Raise your chest off the floor while raising your pelvis up and keeping a firm position. Arch your back and push the rest of your body downwards. You should focus on your breathing and hold the pose for 15-30 seconds.

    Restorative Moves

    Restorative moves can help you de-stress, erase tension, and relax. You should do these poses once or twice per day to reduce your stress levels and increase your fertility.

    A popular restorative pose is the Supported Bride Pose. Lie on your back with your feet on the ground and your knees bent. Your arms and hands should be relaxed on the side facing up.

    Begin by exhaling and lift your hips until you form an arch. Hold the pose for at least two minutes and focus on your breathing. You can use a block as an aid if you’re struggling to keep your pose.

    Flexibility Moves

    Flexibility moves are all about stretching out your muscles. These poses help to make your hips, pelvis, and organs more flexible for fertility.

    The butterfly is an easy yet effective flexibility pose. Sit with your legs bent and connect your feet in front of your pelvis. Exhale and bend your knees while you bring your feet closer to your pelvis.

    Hold this pose for 1-5 minutes. You can also lean your body forward to alleviate tension from your groin area. This pose will help get rid of extra tension in the hips and groin for better fertility.
