What is Kofinas Fertility ?

Founded by Dr. George Kofinas in 1987, Kofinas Fertility Group is the 1st private fertility practice in NYC and the 3rd to open in the state of New York. Our doctors are highly skilled fertility specialists, dedicated to providing you with the best possible care.

Do I need to take a fertility assessment?

A fertility assessment is a good first step if you are unsure whether or not you need to schedule an appointment. You can skip this step and set up a consultation if you prefer. Our doctors will work with you to get to the root cause of your infertility. Ultimately, the most important thing is to take a step that feels right for you. We're here to support you on your journey, no matter where you start.

What causes infertility

The short answer—it totally depends! In about one-third of cases, infertility is due to the woman (female factors), and in another third infertility is due to the man (male factors). The remaining cases are caused by a mixture of male and female factors or by unknown factors. In women, problems with ovulation account for most cases of infertility. Other causes include blocked fallopian tubes, physical problems with the uterus, and uterine fibroids. In men, infertility is most often caused by problems with sperm count (producing too few sperm or none at all) or problems with the sperm’s ability to reach the egg and fertilize it.
