George D. Kofinas, MD FACOG
George D. Kofinas, MD is the founder and medical director of the Fertility Institute and chief of the section of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the New York Methodist Hospital.
A diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, he is board certified in both, Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; active member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, The Society of Laparoendoscopic surgeons, Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and American Medical Association.
After the completion of his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1984 he continued his specialized training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn, New York.
After the completion of his fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Dr. Kofinas served for one year as assistant professor at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, prior to becoming chief of the section of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The Brooklyn Hospital Center. In 1996 he was appointed Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Residency program director at The Brooklyn Hospital Center where he served in this position until February of the year 2000, when he resigned to dedicate all his time to the needs of his patients and the Fertility Institute.
Dr. Kofinas has dedicated a significant amount of time in the training of specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, has written and lectured extensively on the subject, of infertility, reproductive surgery, endometriosis, leiomyomata (fibroids), as well as numerous topics in In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive technologies (ART). He is actively involved in infertility and reproductive surgery research, as well as in the development of optimal embryo culture conditions.

Angeliki Psimoulis, MD
Dr. Psimoulis is board certified in both Internal Medicine and in Endocrinology and Metabolism. After the completion of her residency in Internal Medicine, she continued her specialized training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn, NY.
In 1987, Dr. Psimoulis became interested in Reproductive Endocrinology when she served a preceptorship at the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Clinics at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, in Brooklyn, NY. She was recruited by the Fertility Institute in 1990 and since then she has done work in the investigation of the causes of infertility and the diagnostic workup of the infertile couple, Ovulation Induction with gonadotropins and Intrauterine Insemination. Her current interests include Ovulation Induction in patients with Polycystic Ovaries and Insulin resistance.

Maria Celia Bertero, MD HCLD
Graduated from Medical School, Rosario University, Argentina. She completed training in OB/GYN in Argentina. She completed a Post doctoral fellow in Reproductive Physiology at University of Kentucky with extensive training on Embryology, Andrology and research in Endometriosis. After the completion of her training she served as an embryologist and andrologist at Central Baptist Hospital and Director of Reproductive Endocrinology Laboratory. Dr. Bertero joined the Fertility Institute in September 2002 as the scientific director of the Embryology Laboratory and head of research.

Paulette Friscia, RN, WHNP
A nurse practitioner for over 16 years, Paulette Friscia joined Dr. G. Kofinas at the Fertility Institute in 1988. Prior to her recruitment to the Fertility Institute Paulette worked several years as an obstetrical nurse, as well as a nurse practitioner with certification in women’s health. As the head of nursing she oversees the nursing staff and coordinates all the activities of the ovulation induction and IVF programs. She also performs clinical tests such as postcoital test, ultrasounds, endometrial biopsies, and coordinates a very successful egg donation program.
Over the years, working with Dr. G. Kofinas, she has accumulated a vast experience in managing all aspects of infertility. She is always available to answer questions and guide patients through the very stressful process of infertility treatment.
